Athena Kidney Foundation is a health organization unit, seeking to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improves the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases.

The interior design and decor have been tailored to provide a soothing, cheerful, and spacious environment for the patients and staff alike. Our home-like touches, such as fully reclining chair and color cable television at each station, enable patients to relax in a safe comfortable atmosphere.

We are proud to be one of the very few facilities equipped with an on-site generator, hemodialysis single needle capability, and one of the finest water purifying systems available today.

The dialysis treatment is provided on a “prescription only” basis, geared to each patient’s needs.

We use state-of-the-art dialysis machines and bio-compatible efficient dialyzers. Each patient in our program receives their dialysis in strict accordance with their physician’s orders. Because treatments are individually tailored, there is a greater potential for rehabilitation with fewer complications.

Round the clock care is provided and on an average of 10-15 patients per day make use of this facility.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) & Labour theatre

Athena Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a modern pediatric group practice conveniently located inside Athena Hospital. We offer care for children from birth through school graduation. We believe in high-quality care and excellent service for our families. We maintain that pediatric medical care is best practiced by caring, well-trained pediatricians who have the freedom to select the best options available for the needs of children.

This has been set up for the first time in Dakshina Kannada, Mangalore to give intensive Care only to Children and this is one of the best facilities available. 

The Labour Room is equipped with all necessary equipment and supplies that the laboring patient may require. Athena has two fully equipped labor cum delivery rooms.

Examinations:

Complete physical and comprehensive health maintenance review, including growth, nutrition, sports, and psychosocial, safety and educational issues from birth through college age

Sick child visits:

Acute and follow up visits for problems are available on a same-day basis with flexible scheduling

Lactation Consultations:

Private and small group Lactation Consultations can be arranged through the Paediatric group. This valuable service can be utilized either for prenatal education or for help with lactation issues after delivery.

Inpatient care:

Hospital has a Special Care Nursery and pediatric beds on a well designed, attractive, comfortable family unit where parents may stay with their children around the clock and where the pediatric nursing staff is specifically trained to care for sick children and adolescents.

Immunizations:

Routine and special immunizations are given. Pre-immunization counseling and informational brochures are provided to assure complete awareness of the diseases. Ample time is scheduled for questions on these issues.

Ancillary Services:

In-house Laboratory and X-Ray services (performed by our licensed technicians) allow us to obtain rapid and accurate diagnostic testing. Safety, cleanliness, and quality are supervised and maintained by round the clock housekeeping service department.

Cardio-Pulmonary Monitoring:

Complete Pulmonary Function testing, respiratory inhalation therapy, and transcutaneous oxygen monitoring are available to assist in the management of cardiac and pulmonary diseases.

Skeletal Injuries& Laceration:

We are equipped to diagnose, x-ray and stabilized orthopedic injuries. Those injuries require suturing and casting are treated by qualified specialists.

Hearing and vision screening:

Beginning at the age of 3 years, all children routinely undergo hearing and vision screening at yearly examinations. There is no fee for this service.

Tympanometry:

Our unit is equipped with modern ear pressure technology to assist in the management of otitis media.

Wart removal:

Several different methods of wart ablation are available for those with functionally impairing lesions.

Operation Theatres

Three fully equipped operation theaters are available for any surgical procedure such as a kidney transplant, cornea grafting, laparoscopic surgery, grafting or repairing major vessels, etc.

Three professional microscopes are used for ophthalmic, neuro, orthopedic, and ENT surgery besides the laser unit stand by.

Athena Physical Therapy is a department of Athena Hospital. We offer complete physical therapy services to the outpatients as well as inpatients.

Medical Intensive Care Unit

The Intensive Care Unit at Athena Hospital is an eight-bed unit with ventilations providing care for hundreds of critically ill patients per year.

We have a wide range of patients, with a large proportion of emergency admissions. We strive to establish and maintain optimal management of critically ill patients with a multi-disciplinary approach.

All staff is committed to developing excellence in all services through continuous quality improvement, the development, and maintenance of high ethical standards, communication and accountability for efficiency and effectiveness.

Intensivists, doctors who specialize in critical care medicine, are available to treat patients in the ICU.
