WhatsApp will not be available for security reasons on these phones from February.

WhatsApp, a Facebook-owned social media company, will stop working on some devices. The social media company has announced that due to security concerns it will stop working on some phones from February.

WhatsApp will stop working on millions of older mobile devices around the world as the company has removed support for these applications. As of February 1, 2020, any iPhone running iOS 8 or older and any Android device running version 2.3.7 or older will no longer be supported.

These details have been posted on WhatsApp on its blog and on its FAQ page. Facebook-owned company said, “Users of these operating systems are already unable to create new WhatsApp accounts or re-enter existing accounts.

But if the user updates his / her WhatsApp account he / she will be able to continue using it, WhatsApp stated. While WhatsApp addresses security issues, it hopes that cyber attacks can be stopped by upgrading them.

Facebook purchased WhatsApp for $19 billion in 2014 with plans to add the messaging platform to its current Messenger and Instagram applications.

According to data released by Google, over 99.6 percent of users use the updated version of WhatsApp. Nearly all Apple iPhone users run iOS 12 or later versions, so this won’t affect Indian users.
